Clichés in Hirani Movies - 3 Idiots Review
- Boman is Hysterical, Hard-Boiled, Purist College Head who cares only for the system, He gets a special introduction just like the Hero, Munna Bhai its ‘Hand Shake Nahi hoga’ and 3I Aanda story. He loses to the hero’s theory and changes perception of life.
- The hero always comes with something out of the box and wins the war of course at the end also wins acclaims from the Boman.
- Hero comes with a Motto which helps everyone around him. E.g Jaddu ki chappi and All Izz Well.
- The HOC daughter would be the heroine and falls for the hero and of course helps him when the script demands.
- Important change between two movies Side kicks Munna has 1 and Rancho has 2. Difference - Ranchos sidekick’s are part of the story and help it move and Munna sidekick delivers absurd dialogues.
- The hero is tried to be rusticated for cheating the system or challenging it.
- Both Heroines are doctors
- Munna & Raju both have fall and admitted in hospital and are nursed back. Of course Sanjay baba gets bruises and small injuries after the fall. Of course Sharman is no Sanju baba…
- The HOC tries to set the final exam papers in the intention of failing someone. (he got no other job believe)
The main cast of the movie is something hard to digest but we have grown up watching many 50+ years old young men going to college in older movies. Like Hirani told he wanted actors not college students. Lot has been told, about the movie each Actor has performed his role on a decent scale. However if one actor has to presented the Best Actor award from this movie then it boils down to Phunshuk Wangdu Vs Chatur Ramalingam and the award goes to Mr. Omi Vaidya for the astounding performance he has given us. We do not recognize these so called character actors of course Boman Irani, Irfan, Naseeruddin, Om Puri are exceptions, but the way this guy has turned that mugging, 2nd Ranker, Maska for profs, HOD’s character into a real character. Everyone comes across these kind of characters in our class rooms.
Overall this is a feel good movie, however it disappoints us with the delivery, may be we expected something like Munna bhai series from Mr. Hirani. It sure is a good time pass .. Maybe watch without expectations….
